Playing rules
As usual the tournament will be organized with two different categories: Pool A and Pool B.
All matches will be played according to the FIVB Volleyball Rules, with the exceptions listed below:
1. The net height is 2.43 m in Pool A and 2.35 m in Pool B.
2. The minimum number of female players on the court at any time during the game is two.
3. Teams may play with 6 or 5 players.
4. A player is allowed to play only for one team during the tournament.
5. If a team becomes incomplete, the organizers and the captains of opponent teams have to analyze the possibilities to add other player(s) to the team concerned.
6. Teams change court sides between sets.
7. There is a 2 minute-long break between sets.
8. The game starts at scheduled hour, there is no warming up time.
9. The referee and captains of both teams must verify and sign the match record of every match once it has been finished.
10. The organizers reserve the right to adjust the tournament playing mode during the tournament in case of a time delay or for other reasons.
11. In all cases not foreseen by these rules, the organizers will make the final and indisputable decision.
Sets, matches, timeouts, finals
In all matches for both Pool A and Pool B (except the finals 1st-2nd) each set is played to 15 points, with no two-point difference (meaning a set could end at 15-14).
In all matches for both Pool A and Pool B (except the finals 1st-2nd) there are no timeouts.
In Pool A, each match is the best of 3 sets.
In Pool B, each match (except the final 1st-2nd) is played with 2 sets. In case of tie, play a tiebreak to 3 points with no two-point difference (meaning a tiebreak could end at 3-2).
Finals 1st-2nd for both Pool A and Pool B are the best of 3 sets. Each set is played to 15 points, with two-point difference. One timeout (1 minute) per team in a set allowed.
Scoring and ranking rules
Match points calculation
Each match assigns 3 points.
For each set or tiebreak you win you get 1 point.
If you win a match with the set score of 2-0 you get 3 points.
Ranking of teams within round robins
1. Points won.
2. In each round robin if two or more teams are tied, they will be ranked by the first following condition that unties:
2.1 "Set ratio": higher quotient between sum of sets won and sum of all sets played (won and lost).
2.2 "Ball ratio": higher quotient between sum of ball points won and sum of all ball points (won and lost).
2.3 The direct confrontation match(es) of the teams in the same round robin. If this condition generates a loop is not being used at all.
2.4 Higher average age of players (if age info is not available from one player it is considered 18 years old).
2.5 Toss a coin 😁.
